Mass Casualty Course

From 11th to 15th February 2019 in Skopje, North Macedonia, Mass Casualties (MASCAL) Course was conducted with representatives of all six nations participating in Balkan Medical Task Force.  The course was conducted in organisation of NATO Centre of excellence for military medicine (NATO MILMED COE) and the Multinational Medical Coordination Centre with facilitators from Hungary, Netherlands and Germany.

The purpose of the MASCAL Course was to confirm that participants have necessary requirements of their position in the BMTF Crisis Establishment (CE) structure according to job descriptions, as well as to find out possibilities for improvements.

During the course, information briefings were conducted about the scenario, war game method important for training, media concept of the exercise, training plan etc.

Part of the course was conduction of Table Top Exercise (TTX) in role-2 Medical Treatment Facility modules:  Patient Evacuation Coordination Centre (PECC), Reception/triage, Emergency room, Outpatient Ward, Operating room, Intensive Care unit, Ward, X-Ray, Laboratory and Pharmacy.

In accordance with the final evaluation of the course facilitators, all course objectives were achieved with great devotion shown by the participants.
